About Leopard Tortoise
Size: The leopard tortoise is the fourth-largest species of tortoise in the world, with typical adults reaching 32 cm (12 inches) and weighing 10 kg (22 lb).
Housing: Baby Leopard tortoises need a humid environment, so do not keep your Leopard in a bone dry environment. In addition to a hide house, baby Leopard tortoises like to have foliage to hide under and walk through. UVB Basking Light and Heat: Your baby Leopard will need a high quality UVB lamp.
Diet: The Leopard Tortoise is mainly vegetarian and prefers green vegetables to fruits but some will eat some form of meat and a mixed diet is therefore advisable for the adults. The babies and juveniles will need a calcium rich diet (watercress + Nutrobal supplement) and need roughage in the diet (grass).
How many times a day should I feed my leopard tortoise?
Feed hatchlings and young tortoises daily or divide the daily portion in two and feed morning and afternoon. Adult tortoises can be fed daily or you may choose to omit to feed for one day a week.
How often should I bathe my tortoise?
Older juvenile tortoises should be bathed 2-3 times a week and adult tortoises bathed weekly, but more frequently if kept indoors under heat lamps. All tortoises should be bathed daily or every other day in the period of winding down in preparation for hibernation.
